My Interview with Laubao

Hi Folks,

today in "my coffee room" it is time to meet and know more about:
Laubao

Are you ready? Something new and extremely amazing is happening in my blog.

You know I love to talk about new artists and crafters I find on the web and share their works.
I started few months ago a new adventure: "Sara Arts - My Wish List"

I have opened a lovely Flickr Group  in which
Artists, Designers and Creatives
can meet, support and give exposure each other's.
On Friday I post, here,"My Wish List", with
five Art Works from my flickr group
...and ask you to vote for them.
Thanks to this project I meet new great artists and crafters quite daily.
Some among them are been so kind to accepted and answer some questions
about their works, passions and much more.

Today I am really happy to introduce you
Laubao

1.      Hi Laubao welcome in Sara Art Studio! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi Sara! Thank you a lot for inviting me! My name is Laura, I'm Italian. I'm living in England at the moment. I moved here last December, looking for a job (I'm an Architect). I'm enjoying my life here in England. I'm trying to understand how people live here and their culture. Moving here helped me realising that the world is not as big as we think, and we're all very similar. We're all aiming for the same things: happiness, a good job and a lovely family!

2.    How is this creative passion born? Where do you take your inspiration?

I always loved handy-craft and since I was a kid, I enjoyed myself creating, crafting, drawing, experimenting with different materials and tools. Studying architecture helped me watching at the things around me from a different point of view. I take inspiration from the things and people around me, and from my everyday life. ...I try to keep my eyes wide opened to understand what the nature and buildings around me want to suggest me

3. There is among your Art Works or Handmade Creations one in particular that remind you “Something Special” ?

Catty Scarf, Spiderman Hat, Mouse Mittens, Monsters Mittens and Lore Mittens: these are some works I made especially for my nephews!! I love creating items for them, because I like watching their expression when I give them my crafted items! It's fantastic when my nephews appreciate my art works!

4.   Are you working at new projects now?

I've got thousands of ideas in my mind, and I am always creating something! I've got a project in mind: I'd like to create a “special” design for my items. I'd like to put some of the architecture I studied and I love in my objects...I don't know how long it will take, but I'm working on it!

5.    How do you organize your day at work? Tell us something about.

I'm not a person who likes making “plannings” for my days. I easily get bored if one day is the same at one other. And at the same time, I like to use my time at the best. ...well, let's say that from the moment I'm looking for a job, I usually pass my mornings surfing on the internet, looking for job adverts, and applying for jobs, or just walking around the city here near and “spreading” my Curricula around! During the afternoons I take out my crochet hooks, pins, needles, felt, cotton, wool, pencils, ...and let my imagination go!

6.    Where do you find your stuff? Which kind of materials you like more?

All the Cotton and Wool yarn I'm using at the moment is a present from my parents. My dad was working as a salesman in the textile field. Some years ago, they bought me as a birthday's present lots and lots of Cottons and Wool yarn!! The fabrics I use are usually “recycled” from some old T-shirts, skirts, shirts that I find in my wardrobe! I don't like wasting materials, and always try to recycle everything. I like walking in DIY shops: I always see some tools or materials that give me some new ideas.

7. You share your work experience and everyday life with us in your lovely blog “Vietato annoiarsi – It is forbidden to be bored”.  Would you like to tell us about it?

I'm writing my blog since 2 1/2 years now. I started it because I wasn't really satisfied with my job and wanted something else that could make me feel better and in relation with other people. I was working in an Architecture Practice, but because of the economic crisis, there wasn't so much “creativity” to use ...and I felt a bit betrayed.
Then I found two bloggers, Hong Yi (http://www.ohiseered.com/) and Missy Cheerio (http://www.missycheerio.com/), who where writing about architecture. They were still studying it, and their words reminded me the love I had for architecture. After a while  I decided to start writing a blog, too. I always loved writing, having “pen-pals”...so it was like writing to an imaginary “pen-pal” at the beginning. I was really happy when I received my first “comments”: reading nice words from readers is wonderful! I found really nice people in the “blogosphere”, and “friends” that I really would like to meet in my real life one day!!

8.   Which are your hobbies and how do you spend your free time?

I cannot stay still, I always have to do something. When I'm not crocheting, drawing, sewing, knitting, I like to grow plants, walking, visiting places, learning some new software on my computer, playing with my nephews (when I'm in Italy), baking, learning new things. I'd like to take some japanese, spanish and ice-skating lessons, too...and I'll need 48 hours a day to do everything I like! :)

9.  I love your “About me” page, especially where you write : “I live in an imaginary world, where everything is full of colors and happy and where people love to live together! “ Would you like to tell us more about your imaginary world?

My imaginary world? ...well, it's not so imaginary in the end! If you walk in a street you can see what I mean! Just go out, and watch at everything around you. Maybe you see a tree, some flowers, a cloudy sky, some people walking, a kid eating his ice-cream, a lady a bit grumpy because her day was hard today, an old man reading alone his newspaper on the bench...well, now just imagine it more colourful, imagine all the people with a smile on their faces, imagine the sky really blue, a nice sun, imagine all the people talking together, a boy helping an old-lady with her shopping, the tarmac in the street being orange instead of grey, rainbow facades on the buildings, big flowers on the tree, ….it's not so difficult, is it?

10.  Now you are in England. Would you like to live anywhere else one day?

If I could choose, I would like to live in every part of the world! I'd love to understand the different cultures and learn what I don't know, all around the world. In this way I wouldn't have the chance to have a family or closer friends, so it'll be ok if I could have a nice job here in England and travel all around from here... Someone was suggesting me about moving in New Zealand, and I won't mind that even it seems so far away now. But...never say never!

11.  What are your plans for the future?

My plans for the future are: finding a good job, a job that makes me feel really satisfied and give me the possibility to grow and use my imagination. I'd like to learn the most I can, I'd like to find really nice people around me.
Have my own family. A good husband and kids. Have the possibility to make my parents, sister, brothers, nephews proud of me and have enough money to make their lives a lot better!
